Started the morning with a yoga lesson with Aishah, my latest student. She's a colleague at Guardian Shaw Plaza, and I'm grateful for her dedication, such that she comes down all the way to my place in Pasir Ris to take her lessons. She lives in Ang Mo Kio. Her backbends are pretty fine, but she'll have to build up more muscle strength, especially in the abdominals and arms.
Could have kicked myself for not bringing my camera out today. I went to Suntec City for the PC exhibition, and had lunch at Crystal Jade. I highly recommend the Walnut Paste dessert, yummy, healthy and vegetarian-friendly. :)
Went to visit my Master in the evening. Man...how I miss that place. A place of serenity and calm, with so many memories of my Teacher Training Course. Again, I wanted to kick myself for not bringing my camera. Master was telling me about his fasting and detox retreat in Koh Samui, and he lost about 4kg from that. Wow, inspirational for all yee out there who's looking to drop a few pounds and feel renewed and energised! I'm going to try that myself soon.

My usual breakfast
This giant mug I got from Australia. Thought the words written were darn funny. It contains my usual breakfast, which is a large cup of 3-in-1 coffee with instant Quaker oats. I use 2 packets of coffee, sometimes I add chocolate, or soy milk, almond milk, etc for variety.
I'm glad I actually LIKE to eat oats, they are a great source of soluble fibre, low glycaemic index carbs, and they give a chewy bite to just plain java. All you out there who wanna lose weight, try some oats daily, you'll feel fuller and more energetic.
NEVER go on any diet that makes you hungry. Will NEVER give you lasting results because humans just DON'T LIKE BEING HUNGRY!!!
A yoga weekend
The white shirt is one of the limited edition shirts by Gap. This one is designed by Doo Ri. Worth the price of $119. Good quality fabric, classic chic design. The photo doesn't do it justice.
On the right, a pic of me at the restaurant called My Secret Garden. It's a quiet little one tucked away behind a museum at Middle Road. The atmosphere was good, but the food wasn't that great. I tried both the red and white wine, both were bad. Gave up after a couple of sips.
On the topic of alcohol, I discourage everyone to drink, at all. Alcohol is bad for your liver, it's nothing but a poison. Of course, even I like to appreciate some good wine or beer occasionally, just to give justice to the art of producing it, but I don't go more than a glass each time. I don't like being tipsy, I like staying alert & sharp. And alcohol contains 7 calories per gram, downing a glass would be almost equivalent to eating a bowl of rice. Alcohol also dehydrates your skin.
The dessert was yummy, wished the portions were bigger. A heart-shaped brownie and nutty ice-cream, with streaks of fudge.
She's one of those people you look at and think, wow, doing yoga can make you look like that? She's toned and flexible, with great skin for someone who's mother of a 1 year old daughter.
I learnt some tips from her, and can teach better. It's always good to review basics in all the asanas and pranayamas, there's never the end of learning and discovering.
Her style of Hatha yoga is abit different from Sivananda, which is the type I'm teaching. Still it was good to experience her methods. I didn't sweat much, but I know i got a good stretch, cos I'm still sore in several places today. Like my back and calves.
Wished I could have taken photos at Pure Yoga, but don't think they'll allow. :(

Dinner and Shrek ears!
By the way, this shirt is a steal I got from Tangs. I was shocked to find out it was on 70% discount. Original price was $89, but now it's only $26.70. I used a $20 Tangs voucher, so I only paid $6.70 for it! Incredible, considering how formal and well made it is. I usually have hard times finding stuff in my size during sales, cos all the tiny sizes would be long gone. Sweet sweet find, this shirt. :)

Bumming around while waiting for the Champions League finals match between AC Milan and Liverpool. My friend had bought these Shrek ears from McDonald's, it costs only $2 and you don't have to purchase anything else before you can buy these. The proceeds go to charity. Fabulous! People, go get them. They're cute, good as a hairband, and you'll be doing a little bit part for charity. Meet BB and NoNo, my two sons. BB's modeling the Shrek ears, isn't he super cute??? :)

Veil Yoga & Beauty

Welcome to my homepage!
This blog will be largely dedicated to yoga, beauty and health topics, unless I have something burning that I need to say to the world.
I'll cover topics on my own diet, beauty regime, yoga and other exercises.
I'm a biggie on photos, so expect tons of them. Becos I'm a shameless vainpot, and a picture says a thousand words.
I'm not too bad on the eye, trust me.
Posts on this blog will be as erratic as my mood, so don't expect a Straits-Times-like schedule.
Self-Intro:

I'm Veil, a Chinese female popped into the world on 29th Nov 1981.
I currently have long black hair, which sounds boring but it's so far the most flexible hairstyle. I can make it work with any outfit. Been there done that with the short crop, concave bob, redhead, ash blond, bleach, perm, etc...... I've had it with split ends and tempura-texture hair.
I'm 1.7m tall, my weight is usually 49-50kg. I don't measure my weight and vital stats religiously, all I need is to fit into my clothes. Which is still quite a feat, cos I don't have anything which is larger than an S size.
I'm proud of my body, why not, as I take effort to maintain it in optimum condition. With health comes beauty. If you are healthy, you will naturally be slim and have great skin. I think most people are looking the wrong way for solutions to their obesity or acne, when they turn to slimming products or all sorts of skincare solutions in a bottle.
I graduated from NUS in 2004 with a degree in Pharmacy, and have been working with Guardian Pharmacy since then. Dispensing medicines behind a counter was cool at the start, but after some time it got really boring. I'm now looking for a change in career, hopefully something still related to health & beauty, but with travel involved, and more challenges. I don't want a deskbound job, or anything where I've got to stand on my feet the whole day. I'm an energizer bunny, can't sit still for long.
Will be stopping my full-time pharmacist job in June 2007, i aim to get my driving licence(finally!) and to teach more yoga.
